What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. They can remember your preferences, keep you signed in, or measure how a site is used.
Cookies we use
- +Strictly necessary: a small preference cookie that remembers whether you have dismissed the cookie notice, your shop cart (stored in your browser until you check out), and the sign-in session used by staff in the admin area. These cannot be switched off because the site does not work without them.
- +Payments: when you donate or pay for a shop order, Stripe sets cookies on its checkout pages to prevent fraud and complete the payment, and PayPal does the same if you choose to pay with PayPal. These are governed by Stripe's and PayPal's own privacy policies.
- +Analytics: with your consent we use Google Analytics (cookies beginning with _ga) to measure how the site is used, for example which pages are read and where visitors come from. These cookies are set only after you choose "Accept" in the cookie notice; choosing "Essential only" keeps them off. Google's use of this data is described in Google's privacy policy.
- +Cookieless analytics: we also use Rybbit, a privacy-friendly analytics service that counts visits without setting cookies or identifying you.
- +Support chat: the chat bubble on the site is provided by Helploom, which may store a small identifier in your browser so a conversation can continue if you reload the page. It is set only when you open the chat.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary cookie only means the cookie notice will show again on your next visit. To change your analytics choice, clear this site's data in your browser and pick again when the notice reappears.
